The Ottawa Community Concert Band has been performing music for the citizens of the National Capital Region for nearly fifty years. The OCCB is comprised of more than seventy amateur and professional musicians who get together once a week to rehearse. The musicians are versatile and the band performs music of varying styles ranging from military marches, light classical music, Broadway and movie music as well as original concert band compositions.  The band is especially active in performing at hospitals and seniors' residences where residents do not have easy access to musical performance. Recent concerts have taken place at the National War Museum, the Irish Ambassador’s Residence and the Tulip Festival.  Programs are carefully selected to appeal to the intended audience.

Musical Director James Milne has conducted the Ottawa Community Concert Band for the past five years. He brings considerable experience to his duties with the OCCB. For thirty years he instructed music students and produced awarding winning bands for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. For three years he conducted the professional National Capital Commission Concert Band. He was Director of Music of the Regimental Band of the Governor General's Foot Guards for sixteen years during which he conducted the band on many state and military occasions. His experience varies from the concert hall to radio, television and cinema performances. In 1993 he was inducted as an Officer of the Order of Military Merit for his services to military music in Canada.

We acknowledge, recognize, and respect that we live, work, learn and play within the traditional unceded, unsurrendered territory of the  Anishinaabe Algonquin People.
